PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 04: Joel Embiid #21 of the Philadelphia 76ers shoots over Al Horford #42 of the Boston Celtics during the second quarter at Wells Fargo Center on April 04, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia and Boston. Two of the most historical cities in the nation. Both cities were key figures in the birth of our nation and the start of the Revolutionary War. But this weekend, they go to a different kind of war. One with significantly less bloodshed. Although Marcus Smart sure seems to be hungry for blood with how he is diving at people’s knees. No, this weekend two Boston franchises are in Philadelphia. The Celtics and The Red Sox.

The Celtics are of course in town for games 3 and 4 of their series with the Sixers. The series is currently knotted up 1-1. The Sixers shocked them in game 1 without the NBA MVP Joel Embiid. But then in game 2, even with Embiid back on the floor, the Celtics steamrolled them. But now the two trams are in Philly, and playing in the Wells Fargo Center. The floor the Sixers have lost just 5 games on in all of 2023. And they will be facing an Embiid with less rust and more time to heal.

At the same time, the Red Sox are also in town. The Phillies will be looking to break a 4-game snide that includes getting swept by the Dodgers in  LA. But the good news is they also now have an MVP back on the field. Bryce Harper returned in games 2 and 3 of that Dodgers series. And while the Phillies lost both games, Harper managed to go 3-3 with a  double, 2 walks, and 2 runs in the final game.

The action for both teams kicks off tonight. Sixers vs Celtics, Phillies vs Sixers, Ben Franklin vs John Adams, wooder vs wahda, and Cheesesteaks vs Clam Chowder. Boston already had to watch the Bruins choke in the playoffs after their historic regular season. Let’s give them something else to cry about.

Here is the lineup we have ahead of us for the weekend of Philly Vs Boston:

  • Friday- Phillies vs Red Sox at 7:05pm on NBC Sports Philly

The action kicks off tonight at 7:05 with the Phillies and the Red Sox. It’s Zack Wheeler (3.86 ERA) vs Chris Sale (6.75 ERA). After starting 1-2 with Wheeler on the mung, the Phillies have won Wheeler’s last 3 starts. His last time out he threw 6 scoreless innings against the Astros. So the Phillies Ace seems to have settled in after a rocky start to the season.

Sale meanwhile has given up 5 runs in two of his last 4 starts. That said, in the other two starts he went 6 innings giving up just 1 run. So it could go either way. He has been alternating good starts with bad starts, and his last time out was a good start. So he may be due for another blow up.

  • Friday- Sixers vs Celtics Game 3 at 7:30pm on ESPN and 97.5 The Fanastic

30 minutes later, the Sixers and the Celtics start. Though given it is an ESSPN game, and they love to start games late, it may be closer to a 7:45 tip-off. After an ugly game 2 they are probably very happy to be back home. As mentioned before, the Sixers have lost just 5 games at the Wells Fargo Center since January 1st.

As far as we know. Joel Embiid is still good to go after making it through game 2 healthy. How limited he will be we don’t know. He was moving well considering the injury inn game 2. He did rack up 5 blocks in the first half. And while he finished cold from the field, he had a nice stretch at one point where he was hitting the mid-range jumper.

  • Saturday- Phillies vs Red Sox at 7:15 on Fox

Saturday’s game between the Phillies and Sox will be Bailey Falter (5.01 ERA) and Corey Kluber (6.44 ERA). Neither team has been very successful with these Pitchers on the field. The Phillies have won just won game with Falter, and the Red Sox just two with Kluber. Kluber has been the better of the two lately, winning the last two games he pitched, and gave up 4 runs across 11 innings. While Falter gave up 4 runs in each of his last two outings.

  • Sunday- Phillies vs Red Sox at 1:35pm on NBC Sports Philly

They close out the 3-game series on Sunday. The projected starters are Taijuan Walker (6.91 ERA) and Tanner Houck (5.34 ERA). While Houck’s ERA is bloated, the Red Sox have won 5 of his 6 starts. Meanwhile, the Phillies are 3-3 in Walker’s outings. He had a nightmare his last time out, giving up 8 runs across 3.1 innings in LA. Before that, it was a 5 run outing across 4 innings.

  • Sunday- Sixers vs Celtics Game 4 at 3:30pm on ESPN

And then the final game of the Philly vs Boston weekend is game 4 of the Sixers vs Celtics series. It’s another ESPN game, so the actual start time is at least 15 minutes later than advertised. As annoying as Reggie Miller was on TNT, we may be missing him when it’s 4:00 and we are still waiting for the game to tip-off.
