Opening day is this Friday, and the first lineup for the 2022 Philadelphia Phillies is finally taking shape. Here’s a look at a possible batting order and the most likely fielding positions for the Phils’ starting 9:
1.) Kyle Schwarber, DH
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Schwarber is comfortable in the leadoff spot and is the most likely option to DH.
2.) JT Realmuto, C
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)JT has a nice combination of power and speed that fits well in the 2 hole.
3.) Bryce Harper, RF

4.) Nick Castellanos, LF
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Castellanos fits better in LF compared to Schwarber, and the better average at the plate is better to protect Harper.
5.) Rhys Hoskins, 1B
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Rhys slots in as the back end of the major power bats, a great spot for him.
6.) Jean Segura, 2B
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Jean is going to get some solid at bats in down in the bottom half of the lineup.
7.) Didi Gregorius, SS
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Despite a rough 2021, Didi will slot in at short on opening day, I like him at 7 as a lefty to break up some righties.
8.) Bryson Stott, 3B
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Stott slides in and steals the 3rd base spot from Alec Bohm, who has continued his struggles this spring. He gets the lowest pressure spot in this lineup.
9.) Mickey Moniak, CF
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Moniak should get a much deserved spot in CF on opening day, and bats as the 2nd leadoff hitter down in the 9 hole.
