Tyreek Hill running after a reception

Last week, the Eagles took their first loss of the season. It was an incredibly winnable game vs the Jets. But the offense sputtered, scoring just 14 points, and turning it over 4 times. It was a missed opportunity to take a hold of the NFC after the 49ers lost earlier in the day. And things do not get any easier for them this week. Because now they have to contend with the Miami Dolphins high-powered offense.

The Dolphins offense has been easily the best in the entire league. They are number 1 in the league with 498.7 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Eagles are second with 395. They are 1st in the league with 37.2 points per game. 6.5 more points than the next team. And they do it both through the air and on the ground. In fact, they are ranked first in both passing and rushing yards.

Some of that is inflated by their 70-point game vs the Broncos. And it is fair to point out they have had an incredibly easy schedule. But even if you account for that, they are still the best offense in the league.

With that said, they are not unbeatable. The Bills managed to contain the Dolphins’ offense and beat them 48-20. And the Patriots despite losing, held the Dolphins to 24 points. Despite many issues with the Eagles’ offense, they are the closest team to the Dolphins in total yards per game. And the Eagles do enter the game as home favorites, even if it is very narrow favorites at -2.5. We all got a bit down on them after the Jets’ loss, but the Eagles still are one of the best teams in the league. Still, it will be a difficult game, and the Dolphins have a lot of players who could hurt the Eagles.

Here are 6 Dolphins Players Who Could Give the Eagles Trouble on Sunday Night:

  • Tyreek Hill

Hill is the most dangerous WR in the league, period. He has 814 yards. The next WR, AJ Brown, has 672. He has 6 TDS. And he leads the NFL in catches of 25 yards or more with 11. Aj brown is 2nd with 10. More than any other guy in the game, he can be a game breaker. In one play he can go down the field and get a TD. Keeping Hill contained, and limiting the damage he does, will be their most important job the secondary has. I know we tend to hate the soft coverage the Eagles love to run so much. But this may be the time to do it. Because Hill is fast enough to run right past any Corner if they creep up to close.

  • Jaylen Waddle

Jaylen Waddle has not been quite as effective as he was last year to this point in the season. Some of that has more to do with just how great Tyreek Hill has been. But just like we know Devonta Smith is still a dangerous weapon despite the numbers being down, so is Waddle. He will beat you if you are so busy focusing on Hill that you forget about him. He had almost 2,400 yards and 14 TDs in his first two seasons.

  • Raheem Mostert

The Eagles will not have to contend with De’Von Achane, who is on the IR. But Mostert is still a very dangerous RB. His 429 yards are 7th in the league, despite behind 2nd on his own team. He is tied for 3rd in the league with 11 rushes for 25 yards or more. The Eagles run defense has been great. And they did a great job containing Breece Hall last week. But their job does not get any easier against the Dolphins.

  • Tua Tagovailoa

Tua would be the MVP if the season ended right now. He has far and away been the most productive QB so far. It helps when you have Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and a great run game. But he deserves a ton of credit too. He has been near perfect after dealing with the concussions he went through last season. Getting to him, making him uncomfortable, and giving him no time to get the ball deep, will be the key to winning the game. Plus the Hurts vs Tua storyline is something everyone is going to pay attention to in the game given the history between the two QBs dating back to their time together at Alabama.

  • Andrew Van Ginkel

The Dolphins offense is the thing you need to be most worried about. But there are some guys on defense who can hurt you too. LB Andrew Van Ginkel is one of them. He was not necessarily a guy many people were talking about coming into the season. He had just 11 sacks over his first 4 seasons. But he is already up to 4 this year. Ginkel has been missing from practice this week while he battles an illness. But he has turned himself into a guy to watch with his great start to the season.

  • Christian Wilkins

Also on pace for a career-high in sacks is Christian Wilkins. For a lot of his career, Wilkins has been one of those guys where his work leads to big numbers for other guys. He disrupts the pocket, and draws double teams, letting someone else get a sack. And he is still doing that this year. But he is also getting his own sacks. Wilkins is already up to 3.5 sacks through 6 weeks. His career high is 4.5. With it being another week of Sua Opeta at RG, he is a name to watch.
