The Phillies will return to action post All-Star break on Friday with a doubleheader. But the minor leaguers continue to play on down on the farm. And while the Phillies farm system leaves a lot to be desired, these prospects have been playing well as of late!
The former #1 overall pick is finally hitting his stride. So far in July, Moniak is hitting .308 with 4 doubles, 2 triples, 2 stolen bases, and hes currently riding a 6 game hitting streak
Mick is playing in High A, which is a big jump up for a kid who is a little over one year removed from high school. Hes holding his own. in 12 games he sports a 4.23 ERA. And in 38.1 innings pitched he has struck out an impressive 58 batters.
O'Hoppe could be quite a find for the Phillies. He was a 23rd round pick in 2018 and hes developed. He is currently playing with High A Jersey Shore and is hitting .278 this season with 9 home runs and 11 doubles. Hes hitting .362 in July and has enjoyed a 10 game hitting streak
Appel is a nice redemption story. Hes 30 now, but hes the former #1 overall pick who, after taking 3 years off of baseball looks to regained the love of the game. He was recently promoted to AAA and hes pitched very well. In 3 games he has a 1.54 ERA and has struck out 11 batter in 11.2 innings. Walks have been an issue, as hes given 12 free passes
This one is cheating, because technically Williams is with the big league club. But Williams has crushed it this season. He was called up from Lehigh Valley after hitting .352 for the Iron Pigs. It was only 71 at bats, but thats because he was helping Team USA make the Olympics
