(Photo by John Kincade)A trip to the Super Bowl is always an amazing time. As a member of the media you are being given access to a behind the scenes view of the most watched sporting event in the world. There are limits to what you can actually “see”, but the collection of insiders and stars of the game current and past is indescribable. That is what makes the event so special, but it also brings its challenges.
Every weekday, Andrew and I along with our talented team love having you join us for “Kincade and Salciunas” on 97.5 The Fanatic. We hope that you have come to expect a show that will entertain and inform. The problem with the Super Bowl is the Radio Row broadcasts are completely different than our everyday show. We are used to working in a confined space with our team constantly doing things to share our content with you. When the show is in New Orleans and the crew is back in Philadelphia it creates obstacles.

When on Radio Row you are offered guest appearances by NFL personalities. They usually are being pitched by a publicist and come with a catch. The star is promoting a product and you are asked to become the spokesperson for it during the interview.
You can’t get the guest unless you publicize whatever they are pitching. The producers on site are constantly juggling the benefits against the problems it creates. The crowds of people are moving along next to you as you do the show so concentration is tested. You have to maintain focus on the show and its content. Believe me, it’s very easy to have your mind wander.
Just tomorrow alone we will sit down with Matt Ryan, Kurt Warner, Kevin Neghandi and Steve Wyche. We hit CBS, Westwood One, ESPN and NFL Network personalities in a matter of just over two hours. It’s a juggling act to make sure we are always talking about the Birds with them!
We appreciate you joining us and hope you like this look behind the scenes!

A Airport Beer During The Layover

The first flight was uneventful. On the layover I made sure Andrew got to taste a Sweetwater 420, my favorite Atlanta Microbrew. Glad he had a drink because they loaded us on the plane and we were delayed over 100 minutes!

The Official Super Bowl 59 Football

The “official” Super Bowl 59 football. You can purchase one of these for $179. There is another version not used in the games with the team logos on it.
Checking Into The Hotel

Our hotel was decked out for the Super Bowl at check in. It is filled with media from seven countries! The room rate over the weekend is more than 2K.
Andrew Gets His First Taste Of New Orleans

You think Andrew liked his shrimp and oyster po boy sandwich? It is a delicacy served best at ACME Oyster House. They have been on the French Quarter since 1910. The entire traveling party enjoyed them.
Checking In with Andrew DiCecco

It’s great having Andrew DiCecco here to share his keen insights. He will be covering both the Eagles and Chiefs for the big game. The press corps is huge and he is enjoying covering his second Eagles appearance!
