Even though 2 Phillies players were inactive, Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez, 6 more still took the field, including 3 in the starting lineup. Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Alec Bohm started. Jeff Hoffman, Matt Strahm, and Cristopher Sanchez all pitched out of the bullpen.
Phillies Stand Out At The 2024 MLB All-Star Game

The NL did not win. But that is not because of anything the Phillies players did. All 6 of them did their parts. Including a double by Harper, a great defensive play and a hit by Turner, plus Bohm got a hit as well. The pitchers threw only 11 combined pitches, but those led to 4 outs.
Cristopher Sanchez threw only 2 pitches and got 2 ground ball outs. Matt Strahm came in later and took 5 pitches to strike out Bobby Witt Jr. Then Hoffman got Willi Castro to ground out with 4 pitches. Turner, Harper, and Bohm combined to go 3 for 8.
The point is that the Philadelphia All-Stars did their part. All 6 of them made a positive impact on the game. They weren't Shohei Ohtani who hit a 3-Run Blast, the only runs the NL scored all night. But they also were not like Logan Webb or Hunter Greene giving up multiple runs.
The NL wound up losing 5-3. Luckily it no longer determines who has home-field advantage. So it won't end up hurting the Phillies down the road if they make it to the World Series. It does however continue a long-standing tradition of AL Dominance in the game though.
If you missed the night, or just want to relive it, here are some pictures of what the Phillies players were up to at the 2024 MLB All-Star Game:
Alec Bohm Impresses At The HR Derby

Before we get to the All-Star Game, we first have to talk about the show Alec Bohm put on at the HR Derby the night before. No one expected him to have a good night. He had the fewest HRs of anyone in the event. But he went on to finish 3rd, and hit the most HRs in round 1.
Bohm's Teammates Help Him Out At The HR Derby

When Bohm got off to a slow start in the 2nd round of the Derby, his teammates gave him a little help. They brought him a jug of "wooder" and much like how in Space Jam "Michael's Secret Stuff" helped the Looney Tunes out despite it just being water, the "wooder" helped Bohm out. He went on a roll to tie Teoscar Hernandez. he lost in the swing off, but he at least made it close.
Trea Turner and Alec Bohm Warmup

As starters, along with Harper who is not pictured, the 3 Phillies hitters saw the field right away. They made up 3/4ths of the starting infield, along with Ketel Marte. We even got a fun moment early on where all 3 were mic'd up. It just so happened to be the same inning where Turner made a Web Gem worthy play at SS.
Bryce Harper Doubles In the 1st Inning

Bryce Harper got the first extra base hit of the night. Ohtani walked, Turner flied out, and then Harper hit a double to left. It was not the traditional double into the gaps, but Harper went full effort and legged out a double on what might be a single for most people. It gave the NL an early chance to score, but Contreras grounded out in the next at bat.
Bohm Singles In The 4th

Bohm flied out to center in his 1st at bat. But the second time up he roped a single to left. It didn't lead to anything because it was the only hit of the inning. But Bohm at least did his part to try and get the lead back after the AL tied it up in the bottom of the 3rd.
Cristopher Sanchez Needs Just 2 Pitches To Get 2 Outs

One of my favorite moments of the night was Cristopher Sanchez's outing. All he needed was 2 pitches to get 2 groundball outs. He faced Isaac Paredes and Josh Naylor, got 2 ground balls, and then walked off the mound. No one had a more efficient night than him. It is a pretty perfect way to show off the type of pitcher he has been this season.
Matt Strahm Strikes Out Bobby Witt Jr

Matt Strahm was the next Phillies pitcher to take the mound. He got to throw 3 more pitches than Sanchez did. He came in to face one of the toughest hitters in the league, Bobby Witt Jr. It didn't phase him. He struck him out to end the 7th inning.
Jeff Hoffman Gets The Job Done

Like Strahm, Hoffman only got to face 1 hitter. Also like Strahm, he got that 1 hitter out. 4 pitches was all he needed to get Willi Castro to ground out. it ended the 8th inning, and kept the game at 5-3 giving the NL a chance to come back in the top of the 9th. The NL hitters could not get that job done though. Clase shut the door, only allowing a infield single before getting the save.
