See what Andrew Salciunas found in the Audio Vault today. Every day Andrew takes a deep dive into our Audio Vault to pull out audio relevant to the day or recent events. It could be famous Birthdays, important events today in Sports or World History, or other relevant topics. But today he switched it up a little bit. Because recently he was made aware of an interesting stat about Kyle Schwarber. And that got him thinking of other one-of-a-kind Sports accomplishments. The things that have literally only been done once in Sports history, for better or worse.

Who is the only player to hit home runs in every round of the Playoffs in both conferences? Who is the only player to have a triple-double not including points? What is the only time a player won Super Bowl MVP for what they did on Special Teams? What Qb put up big numbers despite no help from his WRs? And who hit two grand slams in a single inning? Here are all of the one of a kind sports accomplishments Andrew found in The Audio Vault today…

 

  • Kyle Schwarber Is the Only Hit Homeruns in All These Moments

    Kyle Schwarber hits a lot of home runs. And because he hits HRs all the time, he is the first person ever to accomplish a specific feat. He has hit an HR in the NL and AL Wild Card series. Then in the NL and Al Divisional Series. Also in the NL and AL Championship Series. And in the World Series. Now recently, he also added home runs in the World Baseball Classic’s Group Stage, and Final. The WBC classic is just the icing on the cake, because he was already the first person to accomplish hitting an HR in all those other situations.

     

  • Desmond Howard Named MVP as a Return Man

    Only one Special Teams player has won the Super Bowl MVP. Desmond Howard. And he deserved it for his 99-yard Kick Return TD. Other players have returned a kick in the Super Bowl. But no one else won MVP solely for their contributions on Special teams. It was the only kick return TD of his career. He certainly picked the right time for it.

     

     

  • Draymond Green's Triple-Double with No Points

    A triple-double, while impressive, is not rare. What is rare is a triple-double with no points. But that is exactly what Draymond Green did. He gathered 10 steals, 10 assists, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks, and just 4 points. Steve Kerr quipped after the game that it was the most dominant 4-point performance he has ever seen.

  • Two Grand Slams in One Inning

    Fernando Tatis Sr is the only player to ever hit two Grand Slams in one inning. he did so in 1999 as a member of the Cardinals. And weirdly enough, both HRs came off of Chan Ho park. They probably should have taken him out. But Tatis Sr is sure happy they didn’t. Because now he gets to stand alone as the only player to hit two grand slams in one inning.

  • Alex Smith

    Not all unique accomplishments are actually impressive. Because in 2014 Alex Smith and the Chiefs became the only team to ever finish a season with 0 TDs by a WR. It is not all on Smith. His WRS like Dwayne Bowe certainly played a part in that. It is more a failure on the Chiefs as a whole. And now a little under a decade later they are the most dominant force in the NFL.

  • Carson Wentz Throws for 4000 Yards Without a Single WR over 500 Yards

    And on the topic of bad WR play. Carson Wentz is the only athlete to accomplish something similar. But in his case, you can’t really blame him. He threw for 4000 yards. Everything with him since has gone very poorly. But he was great that season. Yet he did not have a single WR eclipse 500 yards. Alshon Jeffrey led the Eagles WRs with 490 yards. Thankfully Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert picked up their slack. Aren’t you glad the Eagles no longer have that problem? Thank you AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. They also have a better Qb, but that is beside the point here.
