Flyers To Host Fifth Annual Grateful Dead Night on April 14

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced they will host the fifth annual Grateful Dead Night on April 14 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, featuring a game against the Montreal Canadiens.

According to Relix, a pre-game concert by Splintered Sunlight, a 25-year Grateful Dead tribute band, is included with the Grateful Dead Night ticket package. This package also includes a commemorative T-shirt created by Wes Knorr of Westernsun Media Design.

Historically, the Grateful Dead have strong ties to Philadelphia venues. These include 53 performances at the former Philadelphia Spectrum, which earned the band the Spectrum's record for most shows there. Relix noted that, during the Spectrum finale, the Grateful Dead revived the rare song "Unbroken Chain," a moment praised by East Coast Deadheads (see the video below).
