With less than 100 days until Philadelphia welcomes the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, Lincoln Financial Field is getting set for one of the biggest stages in international soccer competition.

The venue will host six matches in this summer's World Cup, but the stadium will be called "Philadelphia Stadium" for the duration of the tournament.

Philadelphia World Cup Schedule

Philadelphia's first match — a Group E clash between the Ivory Coast and Ecuador — will take place on the fourth day of the tournament.

FOX29 Philadelphia has shared the complete schedule for Philadelphia Stadium:

  • June 14: Ivory Coast vs. Ecuador (7 p.m.)
  • June 19: Brazil vs. Haiti (9 p.m.)
  • June 22: France vs. Iraq, Bolivia, or Suriname (5 p.m.)
  • June 25: Curaçao vs. Ivory Coast (4 p.m.)
  • June 27: Croatia vs. Ghana (5 p.m.)
  • July 4 Round of 16: Winner, Game 74 vs. Winner, Game 77 (5 p.m.)

What's Behind the World Cup Schedule?

The World Cup tournament consists of two parts: the Group Stage and the Knockout Stage.

In the Group Stage, from June 11 to June 27, teams play against each of the other three teams in their group in a "round-robin" format. How well a team performs in the group translates to "points" earned. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams in each group and the top eight third-place teams from across all 12 groups advance to the knockout rounds.

At this point, the tournament is single elimination. The last nation standing wins.

Fun Facts About Philadelphia Stadium

Lincoln Financial Field (aka "Philadelphia Stadium") will operate at approximately 69,328 capacity for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It normally seats 67,594 spectators for regular NFL games. The venue has also hosted several non-football events, including the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final and the 2016 Copa América Centenario matches.
