“Help Shape the Future Eagles Stadium Experience!”

That was the subject line of an email the Philadelphia Eagles sent on July 24, 2025, detailing how the Eagles are considering changes for their home stadium, “including both renovation options and the possibility of a brand-new stadium in the region.” The Eagles' current lease with the city on Lincoln Financial Field runs through 2032.

According to The Athletic, the franchise remains in an exploratory phase at this point. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has signaled readiness to face big stadium questions during the team's participation in the NFL's annual league meetings this week.

“I think we've got a wonderful stadium. We'll have to make some decisions down the road,” Lurie said in February 2025 before Super Bowl LIX in a statement shared with The Athletic. “No stadium is optimal forever. We'll have decisions over renovating it or creating a new stadium. I think we've been neutral with all the evolution of the South Philly complex, with all those rumored city arenas and all that. So we've been neutral. We're not involved in that at all. We want what's best for the Eagles and our fans, and someday, if we can deliver a Super Bowl to Philadelphia, then that would be incredible.”

One item under discussion is whether a new Eagles venue would be roofed or climate-controlled. Such a venue could enable Philadelphia to host high-profile events like the Super Bowl, according to The Athletic. Discussions around the future of Philadelphia's stadium fit within a broader national trend of teams considering new stadiums or renovations. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs are moving across state lines from their home in Missouri to Kansas instead of renovating Arrowhead Stadium.

While there is nothing concrete taking place at this point, some might think discussing a new venue is too premature, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth. The Eagles have at least seven more seasons at Lincoln Financial Field, and a decision will need to be made soon.
