Four Penn State women's ice hockey players are set to compete in the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games. Nicole Hall and Jessica Adolfsson, a Penn State alumna, will represent Sweden. Matilde Fantin will represent Italy, and Tessa Janecke will represent the United States. Preliminary round play begins today, Thursday, Feb. 5.

Hall and Adolfsson bring extensive international experience to the Olympics, with more than 50 games between them. They opened Sweden's Olympic play at 6:10 a.m. Eastern against Germany.

Fantin represented Italy, the host nation for the Olympics, starting at 8:40 a.m. Eastern against France. Tessa Janecke played for the United States at 10:40 a.m. Eastern against Czechia.

According to a Penn State Athletics news release, each team will play four preliminary round games from Feb. 5-10 before the quarterfinals begin on Feb. 13. The Nittany Lion competitors will play in several notable preliminary round matchups, starting with linemates Nicole Hall and Matilde Fantin facing off against each other on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:40 a.m. Eastern. Tessa Janecke and Team USA will compete against Canada on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 2:40 p.m. Eastern.
