The fifth-seeded Houston Texans battle the fourth-seeded Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night at 8:15 p.m. EST.

The Texans finished the season 12-5, second in the AFC South Division, and the first wild card team. Houston started this season 0-3, got a couple more wins and losses, then finished the season on a nine-game winning streak. This is their third straight season making the playoffs. The Texans' defense was a primary strength, as they led the NFL in yards allowed. Defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter were a solid duo and they each recorded over 10 sacks. Despite missing three games, quarterback C.J. Stroud passed for over 3,000 yards and wide receiver Nico Collins led the team with over 1,100 receiving yards.

The Steelers finished the season 10-7, first in the AFC North Division, and snuck into the playoffs on the final play of the season, as Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a game-winning field goal. A priest, who was a Steelers fan, blessed that side of the field with holy water, and the football gods wanted to see Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs one more time. Rodgers discount double check was in full swing the last month of the season, as Pittsburgh won four of their final five games. However, most of the season was full of inconsistency on both sides of the ball, but head coach Mike Tomlin found a way to make it 19 seasons in a row without a losing season.

Texans vs Steelers Predictions and Picks

Houston finished the season ranked 14th in passing yards, 22nd in rushing yards, 13th in points scored, and second in points against. Stroud will be looking to build on his 2-2 playoff record. On defense, Hunter and Anderson Jr. will challenge a Steelers offensive line that has improved at keeping Rodgers clean late in the season. Collins will be Stroud's primary target and when some good drives don't end up in the end zone, they have a good kicker in Ka'imi Fairbairn to get some points on the board. The defense will try to set up the offense as much as possible.

Pittsburgh finished the season ranked 22nd in passing yards, 26th in rushing yards, 15th in points scored, and 17th in points allowed. Veteran Rodgers is back in the playoffs for the first time since 2022. He has a career playoff record of 12-10 and is 5-0 against the Texans. Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf will be back from a two-game suspension and his presence is expected to revitalize a Pittsburgh offense that struggled to find the end zone in his absence. On defense, T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith look to pressure Stroud.

Best Bet: Texans Spread

Houston has won nine games in a row, one of the best defenses in the league, and playing well on both sides of the ball. Rodgers will make some nice plays, but he will also be pressured a lot.
