Philadelphia's annual tree-planting drive brought together the Phillies, Asplundh, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to distribute more than 1,100 trees across the city last Thursday, Nov. 13. The Phillie Phanatic joined volunteers in Roxborough to help unload trees and hand them off to PHS Tree Tender groups, local organizations, and neighborhood volunteers.

According to an MLB news story, some of the distributed trees were tagged with the names of the Phillies' top home run hitters this past season. These trees were part of the Phillies Home Runs for Trees program in partnership with PHS and supported by Asplundh.

The tree-planting program links baseball to the environment: For every home run by a Phillies player, a tree is planted in the Greater Philadelphia area. This initiative has surpassed 2,400 trees since its inception.

The semiannual tree planting, led by PHS, aims to expand Philadelphia's tree canopy and promote healthier, greener communities across the city's neighborhoods.
