United Airlines will run a one-time flight linking State College Regional Airport straight to Columbus on October 31. The trip will serve fans going to the Penn State-Ohio State matchup on November 1, 2025. Return flights take off from Columbus at noon on November 2.
This flight joins 23 other special routes United set up for major college football matchups this season. "From historic touchdowns to once-in-a-lifetime plays, these are the moments fans never forget and there's nothing like being there to witness it live," said James Starnes, Director of Domestic Scheduling at United.
The new route cuts out the five-hour drive between schools. State College airport's current options only include flights to Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington Dulles. This direct path opens more opportunities for fans to catch the game.
United hasn't posted prices yet. While game seats start at $222 on Ticketmaster, officials still need to pick the kickoff time.
Big Ten schools will see most of these special flights. The first takes off from Austin to Columbus when Texas meets Ohio State in the season's first game on August 30.
Betting sites rank Penn State and Ohio State in their top four picks to win the title, next to Texas and Georgia.
State College airport knows how to handle big games. They've sent planes to Atlanta's 2023 Peach Bowl, plus games at Auburn and Iowa back in 2021. When SMU made the playoffs last year, extra flights helped their fans make the trip too.
