We know the Phillies opponent and we have the Phillies NLDS Schedule. After Pete Alonso came up clutch in the biggest movement of his life, and Devin Williams came up unclutch, it will be Phillies vs Mets for the first time in playoff history. 63 seasons of rivalry, and finally the two teams will meet in October.

Two Teams With Very Different Seasons

Each of their seasons went in different directions. The Phillies came out of the gates on fire, looking like the best team in baseball, but then cooled off as the season went along. They still finished with 95 wins, the second most in baseball, but they hit a couple of roadblocks in July and August. However, they finished fairly strong in September.

Meanwhile, the Mets were a mess at the start of the year. When the two teams met in London, the Phillies were already 16.5 games up on them. But something turned for them at around that same time. When they came back they were on a mission. Few teams played better over the 2nd half of the season, and they sneaked into the playoffs with the final playoff spot.

So who do you take? The team that played better over the last 3 months, or the team that was better over the course of an entire season? Despite all the talk of the Mets strong finish, their records in September were not too different, and the Phillies had more hits, HRs, and runs in the final month. Take out Taijuan Walker and whoever else they threw out there every 5th game, and their pitchers pitched better too.

Still, the Mets are a formidable opponent. Can the Phillies defeat them to move o into the NLCS for the 3rd straight year?

After the Philadelphia Phillies broke a long playoff drought with a wild card berth in the MLB Playoffs in 2022, the city suddenly remembered the euphoria of postseason baseball at Citizens Bank Park.

An unexpected run from the sixth seed in the National League reignited Red October like nobody could've expected after 11 years of disappointment.

The 2022 Phillies

The Phillies swept the St. Louis Cardinals in "Baseball Heaven" to get things started. They stunned the heavily favored Atlanta Braves and convinced an entire fan base to believe.

The incredible momentum continued through a dramatic series win against the San Diego Padres to clinch the National League pennant.

Although they couldn't finish off the Houston Astros in the World Series, the city of Philadelphia will always remember the 2022 Phillies for a miracle October ride that coincided with success for the Eagles, Union, Flyers, and 76ers during the best month in Philadelphia sports history.

Relive the whirlwind of an unforgettable October with rally towels waving in the autumn air, the tension of living and dying with every pitch, and one of the best runs in Phillies franchise history.
