The Eagles Are Worth Betting The Over On… 2 to 3 Times

Just a year after that painful Super Bowl loss, the Eagles of 2023 collapsed in a historic fashion after November. We don’t need to re-litigate a 10-1 defending NFC Champion team spiraling into an 11-6 mess. We do need to see a different Eagles team quickly out of the gate. They need to change our opinions and erase the terrible memory we all lived through. I’m ready to go on the record with my season prediction, but have a few things I want to declare first!
Don’t Pull The “I’ll Wait Till The post season” nonsense
If you are a 76ers fan that is tired of having regular season success flame out in the second (or even the first round) of the playoffs I fully understand this rationale. If you’re an Eagles fan you can take that sorry ass reasoning elsewhere. I’m not here for it. The Eagles organization has consistently delivered a higher caliber product and you have seen post season success. If you see this team get off to a good start, don’t drag out with the “wait and see” stuff. This team has competent leadership at the coordinator positions and the roster has been revamped. Expect different results!

Don’t trust the Strength of Schedule statistic
According to the Strength of Schedule statistic the Eagles have the 6th easiest path offered by the NFL. Don’t believe that for a second! The SOS statistic is based off of last seasons results. Every year the NFL turns over about 40% of the playoff teams. That tells you that last season matters only for the powerhouse squads.
Secondly, it doesn’t take into consideration WHERE games are played. Playing a good team on the road is much harder than playing them in your stadium. Thirdly, with injuries occurring at different times you never know if you will benefit or be hurt by a star player missing a game.
Now on to the prediction!
I’ll break them into definite wins, hard to predict outcomes and what I see as sure fire losses.
The 11 Definite wins
The Falcons will be improved but aren’t ready to win in prime time with Kirk Cousins in the Eagles home opener
The Saints are going to have a Top 6 pick in next years draft,
The Buccaneers are owed a butt whooping after last years playoff win. Write it down.
The Browns are a nice defensive team but the Eagles coming home after that long time off is money.
The Giants in NJ are another team owed a beat down. I’ll be there to witness it.
The Jaguars on Sunday Night Football won’t be up to the upset challenge
The Commanders on a short week (Thursday night) at home…yes please
The Panthers will be Jockeying for draft position in December
The Steelers will be on their way to Mike Tomlinson first losing record, the Eagles might just be loss number 9!
The Commanders will be spunky but won’t have enough of The Grinch in them to win on December 22
The Cowboys get thumped in South Philly to close out 2024!
The 3 “Too Close to Call Games”
The Eagles are a better team than the Packers. I’m expecting them to find a way to hold off the upstarts from Wisconsin. It is still far too difficult to guarantee anything.
The Rams are going to be good but I don’t think they will be a better team than the Eagles. This game may go over 70 points scored and could land either way.
The Week 18 game vs the Giants may be a rest the starters game for the Eagles, so I won’t pencil it in as a guaranteed win
The 3 Guaranteed Losses
The 6-0 (or 5-1) Eagles will lose a heartbreaker vs the Bengals in Cincinnati
The Cowboys and Eagles usually split the season series. I expect this one to be the loss.
The Ravens will win a hard fought battle on Sunday Night Football.

How to bet the season total over/under of 10.5 wins
On my BetParx app I immediately placed an over 10.5 wins wager and then after examining the schedule in depth I placed another wager over 11.5 wins. What the hell, I’m doing it. I saw the record as 11-3 with 3 toss up games. The Eagles are going to be a minimum of 12-5 and could be 13-4. I’m feeling ballsy and am taking an over 12.5 win bet. I hope that Week 18 doesn’t cost me! Enjoy the season! Please spend it every weekday morning with “Kincade and Salciunas”!

Howie Roseman loves to make moves during, or even after, Training Camp. In 2022, he traded for CJ Gardner Johnson at the end of camp. In 2017, he traded for Ronald Darby late in camp. This year, he did it again. On Thursday The Eagles acquired Jahan Dotson from the Commanders.
It seems each season, Howie waits through camp to see what the biggest need is, then makes a move to address it. Even last year, he brought in Zach Cunningham. That one didn't work so well. Linebacker continued to be an issue throughout the season, even if he was one of the few parts of that group that worked.

Dotson is the latest example. It was clear getting a WR3 was a big need. None of the guys they had on the team were stepping into that role. Parris Campbell and John Ross were disappointments. Johnny Wilson flashed, but you can't rely on a 6th round rookie. They needed a guy they could rely on. Not just to give them that extra option, but for insurance in case Devonta Smith or AJ Brown get hurt.
Dotson gives them that. Is he a star? No. The Commanders drafted him in the 1st round, and he has not lived up to that pick. But he doesn't need to be a star. He will be the 5th option, behind Brown, Smith, Saquon Barkley, and Dallas Goedert. His production last season with bad QB play is exactly what you want out of that 5th option. 40 or so catches, 500 yards, and a few TDs.
But what did the NFL world think? Do the people around the league think this was a great move? Was the excitement we felt after the move, matched by people outside the Philly area?

Here Are 5 Of The Best Reactions To The Jahan Dotson Trade
Dan Orlovsky Thinks Eagles Have Best WR Trio
Last week, we were not happy with Dan Orlovsky after he didn't give Jalen Hurts much credit in his QB trait rankings. Now, we can all like him again. After the trade went down he got the chance to react on NFL Live and gushed about the move. He said they now have the best WR trio in the NFL. They went from WR3 being arguably their biggest need to it being a strength, according to Dan.
Even Emmanuel Acho Likes The Move
Emmanuel Acho is not Eagles fans' favorite talking head. He might be a former Eagles, but there have been a lot of times where he had bad hot takes about the Eagles or Jalen Hurts. Even he had to give the Eagles credit here though. And he made a solid point. Dotson will get to go up against the other team's 4th best guy in coverage, maybe 5th.
Ross Tucker Loves The Move
Ross Tucker might be slightly biased, but he had strong praise for the move. He pointed out his penchant for finding the endzone, and his versatility, but also that he is someone who can be both the WR3, but also fill in for one of the main guys if needed. Ross Tucker also acknowledged that the fact he is a local guy certainly makes the deal a little sweeter.
Wale Is In Shambles
If you aren't familiar with Wale, he is a rapper. He is also a big Commanders fan, and he was unhappy seeing Dotson go. He wants Howie Roseman and the Eagles investigated for racketeering. He also joked around with Eagles fans saying he loves them, but if he sees a Dotson Eagles jersey at one of his shows he is going to have them tossed. And he threw in a shot at the Cowboys.
Penn State Weighs In
We know about the Georgia to Eagles connection, but is a Penn State connection emerging too? They had already acquired Saquon, now they add Dotson to the mix. We still don't like their head coach who almost got the Eagles in trouble, but we will take all the Penn State alums we can get if it helps the team, which these two certainly do. They also have PJ Mustipher who is a Penn State Alum on defense. I bet Micah Parsons is feeling FOMO, especially with the Cowboys being cheap right now over his contract extension.
