Carnac the Magnifient Resurfaced Today on ‘Kincade & Salciunas’ [VIDEO]
Over three decades ago, I interned with Angelo Cataldi, Tony Bruno, and Al Morganti on their wildly popular morning show. I faced challenged of bringing a comedy segment to the show. They told me to take some chances and be “slightly irreverent” and topical.
No pressure, right? What came out of it was a parody of the infamous “Carnac the Magnificent” routine from the Johnny Carson Tonight Show, which I continued to perform monthly on Angelo’s Show through 2020.
Carnac the Magnificent
The only time that I have brought “Johnac the Magnificent” to the Fanatic airwaves was when Angelo Cataldi appeared with us live in studio during his book tour. It was a fun moment.
While discussing our new show Kincade & Salciunas, it was Andrew’s idea to bring Johnac on for occasional appearances. I agreed, but if you think it stinks, just blame Andrew!
In all seriousness, it’s a fun creative outlet for me, and it requires everyone around me to have a good sense of humor. It’s one thing that I think is a little lost in this era of Philly sports radio.
Everything tends to be so serious, mainly because of the advent of social media. Tribalism of opinion seems to have people on edge. This little exit ramp from seriousness will hopefully be well received. The “stick to sports” crowd will definitely hate it. Sorry in advance!
This Spring On Kincade & Salciunas
It’s a really interesting time in Philly sports. We look forward to what should be an amazing spring. Due to the Joel Embiid injury, expectations for the 76ers will be all over the place. It could be one of the most interesting rides of our lives.
The Flyers were supposed to be jockeying for a high draft pick, but instead they have over achieved. They might just crash the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Oh, the Phillies are a favorite to once again be in the National League postseason. They open their season in eight days.
Hopefully, you chuckle at Carnac the Magnificent. We appreciate you listening every morning to Kincade & Salciunas.
