The Final Power Rankings Round Up- Eagles Limp Into Playoffs

It would be hard for the Eagles to go into the playoffs on a less impressive note. The 11-6 record is not terrible. Many thought they would go 12-5, so it is not too far off of expectations. But when you go from 10-1 to 11-6, you are going to take some heat. Especially when some of those losses were to the Cardinals, Drew Lock's Seahawks, and the Giants. They are 1-5 since the start of December, and it dragged their point differential down to just +5.

They still made the playoffs, so at least there is that. They will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night. which on paper, is the best matchup they could get. The Bucs are mostly just in the playoffs because they play in the NFC South, and one of those teams had to make it. But if just just go since December, they have been the much better team. For one, they are 5-1 in that time. But they have also scored more points, and allowed the 2nd fewest points in the league. So as bad as the Bucs look on paper, it is hard to look at them and say the Eagles drew the ideal matchup. You could argue it's the Bucs who drew the easiest matchup in the first round.

But before we got to the playoffs, all of the National Sits put out one last round of Power Rankings. To see where every team stands as the regular season comes to a close. For whatever reason, many of them had been oddly optimistic about the Eagles during this stretch. Even going so far as to chastise Eagles fans for doubting. but was the final week enough to convince them the negative eagles fans were right?

Here is where the Eagles fell in the Final Power Rankings of the regular season:

Yea, I dont buy the "not meaning much excuse either." They went into that game planning on winning. That is why they sent their starters out. Saying they weren't trying is just a convenient excuse for how badly they got embarrassed. There is also the fact they looked equally bad in all pf the other games since the start of December.

The Athletic- 13 (Previously 11)

The defense has been as bad as it gets, especially since Patricia took over. Say what you will about Desai, but his defense at least had moments. Patrcia's got embarrassed by the Cardinals. If They can't stop the Cardinals or the Giants, why should anyone think they can stop the Bucs?

CBS- 11 (Previously 9)

A lot of similar faces, at least on offense. but none of what made them so special last year. In 2022 they beat up teams so bad they could take their foot off the gas in the 2nd half. This year even when they scored points, they have often been coming from behind.

Sports Illustrated- 7 (Previously 8)

One, how did they improve in the rankings after week 18? Two, the expectations were not the problem. Their execution is the problem. The offense is way too talented to play this poorly. Our expectations were fair, they just underperformed.

PFF - 8 (Previously 7)

My question is, how do you end up ranked 24th when you give up the 2nd most TDs and the most receptions/ first downs? Those numbers suggest to me that they were either the worst or the 2nd worst.

Fox Sports- 14 (Previously 12)

Nope. Apart from blind faith, there is no real reason to be confident in the Eagles right now.
