Jalen Hurts Listed As Questionable For Monday Night’s Game
The news continues to get worse for the Eagles ahead of Monday Night’s game. First, we learned that Darius Slay, Zach Cunningham, and Cam Jurgens would all miss the game vs the Seahawks. But now Jalen Hurts’ status is questionable as well. He has been battling an illness this week, and evidently, it worsened overnight, putting his status for the game in jeopardy. He is traveling out separately from the team to prevent anyone else from getting sick.
We will likely know more tomorrow morning. If Hurts can’t go, Marcus Mariota would fill in. Mariota has played just 7 snaps so far this season and struggled mightily in the preseason. To the point that some questioned if he would lose the backup job to rookie Tanner McKee. He played a handful of snaps against the 49ers 2 weeks ago while Hurts was being evaluated for a potential concussion, and completed 2 of 3 passes for 16 yards.
The Seahawks may also be without their starter. Adam Schefter noted that there is a “real chance” Drew Lock fills in for Geno Smith, who has been battling a groin injury. Lock started against the 49ers last week in a 28-16 loss, and took snaps in two other games earlier this season.
The Eagles have very little wiggle room in the Division or the conference. Two straight losses knocked them from the 1 seed, down to the 5 seed. If they win out, they would be guaranteed the Division title and at least the 2 seed. But it will obviously be hard to do that without Jalen Hurts. He will travel out to Seattle separate from the team, and the Eagles will see how he is feeling in the morning.
