So many people are still walking around in an angry fog over the Phillies' shocking loss in the NLCS. Thankfully, we have one of the best teams in the NFL to change our mood! Here are some great reasons the Philadelphia Eagles can turn that frown upside down with a Week 8 win!
The Dolphins Game Was A Launch-Off Point.
After all the boogeyman talk about the Miami Dolphins and their unstoppable, historic, high-flying offense, the Eagles dominated defensively. If they had not had a few offensive miscues, it would have been more lopsided than a 14-point victory.
Confidence counts in the NFL, and it seems they are about to go on a roll.
The Commanders Won't Catch Them Napping Twice.
The matchup in early October was stunning. The Eagles were heavy favorites and had to survive a mediocre Commanders team in OT. Do you think they are going to let that happen to them again?
The Washington defense is now 29th in points allowed. If the Eagles don’t have 27+ points, I will be shocked.
DeVonta Smith Hasn't Gotten Cooking Yet
Everyone is excited about A.J. Brown and his 809 yards and 53 receptions. I’ve been concerned that DeVonta Smith has only 383 yards on 32 receptions.
If we know anything about Nick Sirianni, he tries to even things up when it comes to opportunities. I’m calling for a 100+ yard game with at least one touchdown game this weekend for Smith.
Nick Sirianni's Success Isn't "One-and-Done"
Sirianni has taken the Eagles to the playoffs in his first two seasons and appears well on his way to a third. He now has the best winning percentage of any coach in the NFL.
He hasn’t built that record by losing the easy games on his schedule. The Commanders fit that bill. Expect a very motivated Eagles team to put the Commanders out of their misery.
What a 7th Win Could Mean in October
If the Eagles grab that 7th win on Sunday, remember the end of the schedule. They play the Giants on Christmas and the Cardinals on New Years Eve at home before ending the season on the road at the Giants. That should be another three wins if they need them.
This team is heading towards another huge win season.
Feel Better?
I know that I do. Have a great Eagles weekend!

The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 6-1 in Week 7 of 2023 NFL season against the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field. They dominated their previously praised opponent in a 31-17 victory.
The defending NFC champs will face the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
Philadelphia Eagles Defeat Miami Dolphins
The Eagles put together arguably their most complete effort of the season against Miami. They stifled a potent offense led by Tua Tagovailoa and wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The offense moved the ball effectively throughout the Sunday Night Football matchup.
Jalen Hurts, however, committed two more turnovers. He has 10 for the 2023 season, and he finished with only eight in 2022. The franchise quarterback did throw for 279 yards and two touchdowns.
He additionally executed the infamous "tush push" to extend drives and help the Eagles control the time of possession.
The Philadelphia defense limited the high-powered Dolphins to 10 offensive points. Sean Desai drew up an excellent game plan to negate his opponent's weapons. Darius Slay also came up with a key interception.
Lane Johnson returned after missing most of the Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets with an ankle injury.
Projected Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 Starters
The biggest change in the Week 8 starting lineup will be new trade acquisition Kevin Byard. Howie Roseman dealt Terrell Edmunds and two 2024 draft picks to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the two-time All-Pro safety.
The Eagles hope to get Reed Blankenship back this week. The second-year pro sat out against the Dolphins, but he hopes to join his fellow Middle Tenessee State alum Byard in the starting defensive backfield.
Julio Jones played 16% of the offensive snaps in his first game with the Eagles, while Olamide Zaccheaus played 57%. However, Jones will likely play an increased role as he adjusts to the new surrounding.
Injury news will also affect the Eagles Week 8 starters. Updates on Johnson, Blankenship, and other players dealing with injuries will drop throughout the week.
