Eagles Are Confident Jalen Hurts Will Be Ready To Go
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - OCTOBER 22: Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles passes under pressure from Christian Wilkins #94 and Bradley Chubb #2 of the Miami Dolphins during the first half of a game at Lincoln Financial Field on October 22, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Sunday night’s win over the Dolphins was perfect, nearly. The one issue was the health of Jalen Hurts. At some point in the game, he injured his knee. He stayed in the game, but it was clear he was dealing with something. After the game that was confirmed by how everyone on the team talked about how tough Jalen Hurts was for battling through it. We never learned what it was, and still don’t know, but we know he has some type of knee injury.
The good news is it will apparently not keep him off the field. Nick Sirianni was asked about Jalen Hurts’ injury and was very confident Hurts would be good to go on Sunday for the game against the Commanders.
Hurts himself was asked about it, and while he did not go into what the knee injury was, he did go on a bit of a spiel about how he does not get banged up when trying to run, and all of his injuries some when he is inside the pocket.
How effective he will be with the injury is another question. Hurts played well in the second half of the Dolphins game. He made one big mistake on a pick 6, but also helped his team score two more TDs, and made some impressive throws when he had to. He even ran a bit while dealing with the injury. And they were not at all afraid to go to the Tush Push.
The Eagles are currently 6-1, and alone atop the NFC. With games against the Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills, Niners, and Cowboys coming up after the Commanders game, it is a game they pretty much have to have if they want to get the one seed.

Philadelphia Eagles Defeat Miami Dolphins
The Eagles put together arguably their most complete effort of the season against Miami. They stifled a potent offense led by Tua Tagovailoa and wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The offense moved the ball effectively throughout the Sunday Night Football matchup.
Jalen Hurts, however, committed two more turnovers. He has 10 for the 2023 season, and he finished with only eight in 2022. The franchise quarterback did throw for 279 yards and two touchdowns.
He additionally executed the infamous “tush push” to extend drives and help the Eagles control the time of possession.
The Philadelphia defense limited the high-powered Dolphins to 10 offensive points. Sean Desai drew up an excellent game plan to negate his opponent’s weapons. Darius Slay also came up with a key interception.
Lane Johnson returned after missing most of the Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets with an ankle injury.
Projected Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 Starters
The biggest change in the Week 8 starting lineup will be new trade acquisition Kevin Byard. Howie Roseman dealt Terrell Edmunds and two 2024 draft picks to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the two-time All-Pro safety.
The Eagles hope to get Reed Blankenship back this week. The second-year pro sat out against the Dolphins, but he hopes to join his fellow Middle Tenessee State alum Byard in the starting defensive backfield.
Julio Jones played 16% of the offensive snaps in his first game with the Eagles, while Olamide Zaccheaus played 57%. However, Jones will likely play an increased role as he adjusts to the new surrounding.
Injury news will also affect the Eagles Week 8 starters. Updates on Johnson, Blankenship, and other players dealing with injuries will drop throughout the week.
