A Dolphins Reporter Had a Full Blown Meltdown Over The Tush Push
The Eagles have a play that is unstoppable. Whether you call it “The Tush Push” or “The Brotherly Shove“, it is an automatic way to pick up at least one yard. That would be enough to make Eagles fans love it. But the icing on the cake is how it turns some people around the NFL into sniveling babies. The cries of unfairness from fans and media of other fanbases make us love the play that much more. And last night one Dolphins reporter had a full-blown meltdown over it.
Joe Schad of the Orlando Sentinel is not a fan of the play. He made that much clear when he started crying on the website formerly known as Twitter during the game. Every time the Eagles ran it, it was followed shortly by another pouty Tweet by someone who is supposed to be a professional journalist. And the Eagles ran it a lot last night. They scored a TD on it in the 2nd quarter and converted 3 4th and 1s. Including two on their final drive when they were still not on their own side of the 50-yard line.

What Schad and others of his ilk do not understand, is that if it is so unfair, why can’t other teams run it? We have seen so many teams try and copy the move. Very few have had the same success as the Eagles do. The Giants failed so badly at it that they somehow injured two of their players, despite no Eagles players ever getting hurt running the play.
But Schad may take the cake for the most pathetic meltdown yet. The guy is supposed to be a professional journalist. But he sounded more like a fan or radio host with his blatant homerism last night. So while we enjoy having seen our team kick the Dolphins asses, let’s also enjoy seeing a grown man throw a tantrum over a Football play.

This was his first Tweet about the Tush Push. And to be fair, this one is pretty innocuous. It isn’t whining or complaining, it is just saying the Dolphins need to be ready for it. But it reads a bit different after seeing all the whining he would go on to do.
The Whining Begins

Oh is it cheating? Show us what rule is being broken Joe. Also, how is it cheap? No other team can run it like the Eagles do. Maybe the Eagles are just better at it than everyone else. And maybe a grown man and a journalist shouldn’t sound like your typical fan while covering the game. They certainly shouldn’t sound like a toddler whose mom just told him he can’t have the candy bar he wants.

Okay but what is the argument to ban it? That it is unfair? No other team can run it, so how is it unfair? It is too dangerous? The Eagles run it 4 times a game and no one has ever been injured. It is not a Football play? What does that even mean? Banning it would just be punishing the Eagles for being better at something than everyone else. There is no good reason to ban it apart from people just being upset they can’t run it themselves.

My favorite part of the game was when the Eagles were at their own 26th, and went for it on 4th and 1. That is what you can do when you run a play so well it is an automatic 1-yard. And of course, Joe was getting pissy when the Eagles ran it successfully. Then they did it again later in the same drive. I wish I could have seen Joe’s face in the press box as they did it both times.

What safety issue? Who has been hurt running the play? Jalen Hurts ran it with a bad leg last night and was fine after running it. I want just one of these people who claim it is a dangerous play to provide proof of that. Because a slant over the middle of the field is dangerous too. People have been critically injured on HB Dives. It is football, every play is dangerous. And the Tush push might be less dangerous than a play where you get blown up by a linebacker or a Safety.
The Tush Push is not a legitimate football play. It's not how football was meant to be played. It's also lame and can cause injuries. Nobody except Eagles fans will miss it once it's banned in the off-season.
Show us on the doll where the Tush push hurt you, Joe. Not a legitimate Football Play? What does that even mean? Not how Football was meant to be played? It is far closer to what Football looked like when it first started than anything else being run today. And again, what injuries? Every play causes injuries. Stop making things up just because you don’t like the play.
Eagles sports radio this morning claiming Eagles D was impressive and overwhelming without mentioning Miami missing top LT, LG, C, WR, RB for all or much of game.
Thanks for listening Joe. The Eagles are missing both starting Safeties and have gone through 5 options at Nickel Corner. Teams get beat up. The Eagles were badly beaten up against the Jets, and no one was making excuses for them. The Eagles D played great because they held the best offense in the league to 255 yards and 10 points. Save your excuses. You aren’t on the team dude, you don’t have to carry this much water for them.
Do you think we should be all down on ourselves because the Dolphins have injuries? Of course, we are happy today. They played the best offense in the league and shut them down.
