What’s Brewing With Jen

See what was brewing with Jen Scordo today. Every day on The Best Show Ever Jen Scordo shares a few recent weird and interesting news stories. Today that includes an 82 year-old woman battled an alligator and one man’s furry green tongue… Here are her stories from today.

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is full of alligators and an 82 year-old woman recently fought off one of those alligators. But it’s the way she did so that’s making news… She poked the alligator in the eye. This all happened back in 2021, but she has decided to tell her story now. Elsie Kyle was walking her dog near her home in Hilton Head when an 8-foot alligator came out of seemingly nowhere. She tried to run, but she tripped. The alligator jumped out of the water and bit her legs, dragging her into a “death roll.” Somehow she had the mindset to poke the alligator in the eye. Thankfully the alligator loosened its grip and neighbors were able to get her to safe ground. She was rushed to the hospital where she had several surgeries and skin grafts, she even had metal rods placed in her legs. She’s doing just fine today.

And Ohio man has what is being called “hairy tongue syndrome” which means he has furry green fibers growing all over his tongue. Oddly enough, the condition dates back to the 1500’s and can usually be cleared up with proper oral hygiene and antifungal medications. Experts have no idea why or how the condition begins on someone’s tongue. It does seem to appear more in adult males and is associated with poor oral hygiene, certain cancers and excessive coffee or black tea drinking. But experts really aren’t sure. This particular man has been able to clear it up by brushing the furry fibers several times a day. If you dare, the link to the original story has a link where you can view this poor fella. But please be warned, it’s not pleasant.
