Howie must have invested money in Georgia. Because he has gone out and brought yet another former Bulldog to the Eagles. This time trading for Lions RB D’Andre Swift. The Eagles gave up one of their 7th-round picks this season, along with a 2025 4th-round pick, to bring the speedy RB to Philly.

Today was expected to be a quiet day for the Eagles. They entered the day with no picks until the 6th round. But they changed that right away at the start of day 3 by making a move to get pick 105 and select Georgia CB Kelee Ringo. Now they surprised us again by making a trade for D’Andre Swift.
D’andre Swift is going into his 4th season in the NFL after the Lions took in the 2nd round in 2020. His career thus far has been hampered by injuries, but he flashed major potential when healthy. To this point in his career, he has gained 1,680 yards on the ground, at a pace of 4.6 yards per carry. He also has 1,198 yards through the air for 25 total TDs. Eagles fans saw it with their own eyes when in week 1 last season he put up 175 total yards plus a TD on us.
He began to lose carries last season as Jamaal Williams broke out for 1,066 yards and a league-leading 17 TDs. After Williams left in free agency, it seemed he might get back to being the lead back. But then the Lions signed David Montgomery and drafted Jahmyr Gibbs, spelling the end of his time in Detroit. Lo and behold, he ends up in Philly.
That is now 4 former Georgia players he has added in the past few days alone. Add in Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean from last year, and you can spot a pattern. He joins a RB room with a lot of faces, but no clear number 1 guy. They will give Kenny Gainwell a chance as the lead back. But they also brought in Rashaad Penny and resigned Boston Scott. Now they add Swift to that mix. If Swift lives up to his potential, he very well could suplant the other 3 as the lead guy. But at the very least, he should be a nice addition to the rotation.
Swift is in the final year of his rookie deal.
