If you are a loyal listener to the John Kincade Show you know that our Friends at Philly Sports Trips do a fantastic job of taking us on road trips during the season. We had our inaugural road game trip in 2021 to Las Vegas and in 2022 we made our second trip to Arizona. Both of those excursions were a load of fun and first class all the way. We also visited Las Vegas again for the 2022 NFL Draft. That was the night that delivered Jordan Davis and AJ Brown via trade. Every trip is eventful and it’s got me thinking already about where our third annual trip will be. There are a few black out weekends that will need to be avoided around holidays but here is how I’ve got things ranked 3 weeks with odds before the 2023 schedule release;
TOP SEED
AT TAMPA BAY - -220
We always like to have our road game trips double as vacations for our listeners. That entails choosing a location that provides beautiful weather consistently. Around our live broadcasts we love co-hosting a golf outing for our traveling party too. Philly Sports Trips knows how to check all those boxes. Plus, Tampa Joe’s is an amazing spot full of Philly transplants to host our Friday and Monday broadcasts and Saturday Pep Rally. Pat Egan had one of the greatest dessert experiences of his life at Berns Steak House too. It all adds up to an odds on favorite for our 2023 selection. Throw in that we could broadcast in Florida in the same time zone and it’s a no brainer.
AT LOS ANGELES RAMS - +150
Positives? The Eagles fans will absolutely have an opportunity to take over SOFI Stadium. The weather should be amazing and the Rams are going to be terrible. Finding quality golf and some sight seeing options would not be an issue. Negatives? It’s once again in the Western Time Zone and broadcasting at 3am is far more cumbersome.
AT SEATTLE - +170
One of the greatest road game stadium experiences is in Seattle. The tourist area options yo get out and eat and drink are numerous. A golf outing is most likely out of the question.
AT KANSAS CITY - +190
The Super Bowl rematch could be an intriguing pick in the minds of some, but that would be the football purist. Arrowhead is most certainly amazing. First of all, it won’t be a stadium takeover like in other cities. Secondly, you are visiting Kansas City. It’s not exactly a tourist destination. Depending on the scheduled game date, the golf outing may also not be an option. You go to KC to eat and drink. There will also be far fewer Eagles fans traveling there for the game. It’s a complete business trip.
OTHER THOUGHTS
I did the bus trip last year to Washington for the Commanders game. It was outstanding. If the date works I’m not missing that one.
The two visits to North Jersey for the Giants and Jets road games are perfect first trip options if you haven’t joined us before.
The weekend in Boston for the Patriots game is intriguing as I’d love to see the Eagles dominate them in Foxboro.
