The Flyers are not particularly close to competing. to be fair, that is what Coach John Tortorella has been saying all along. From his first interview on this station, he said that they are a ways off. But that became even more clear as the season went on. And it got so bad, that GM Chuck Fletcher was fired after failing to move some expiring contracts at the deadline. And for the first time since that move was made, John Tortorella joined The Best Show Ever.

He discussed coaching a rebuilding team. Continued to defend Chuck Fletcher. Talked about working with Danny Briere, and more.

"Danny, myself, and Chuck have had a lot of conversations together. I coached Danny when he first broke in. Very smart hockey guy. Very determined. He was determined as a player. Has some strong convictions in how we should do this. I am looking forward to working with him. We have spent a few hours talking when he was goired about where we will go with this. I am anxious to get going with him."

Coach Tortorella also addressed questions of if he is the right man to coach a rebuild. He said he does not spend a lot of time thinking about what other people's opinions of him are. But he did add that coaching young players is one of his favorite parts of the job.
