The Philadelphia Eagles came so close to a Super Bowl win last season. They’re ready to come back and claim it in the coming year.

The Eagles have an elite quarterback in Jalen Hurts. But, in order to keep Hurts and pay him the kind of money that’s being thrown around for quarterbacks these days (as in, the New York Giants agreeing to a four-year, $160 million deal with Daniel Jones), the Eagles were forced to let Javon Hargrave, Darius Slay and other free agents move on.

A choice example is the team’s recent move of letting Slay walk, as it changes the Eagles’ current cap standing. Unless a team makes a trade offer before 4 p.m. EST, Slay will be released with a June 1st designation, meaning they save $17 million against the cap. So, the Eagles will save cap space, but they won’t be able to get that cap space until June 1.

Now, many say the Eagles’ hope is in the NFL Draft. Let’s hope they find some good picks. Fly, Eagles, Fly.
