Anthony Gargano talked about having patience with Howie Roseman in his Opening Diatribe this morning...

"I want to start with the Chauncey Gardner Johnson deal going on right now. In case you missed it, he put out a farewell type of video on Instagram. Everyone takes it as if he is out. This is it, this is his farewell to Philadelphia. Now that may be true. But, if you look at the comments, and see what is being said about Howie Roseman, we need to discuss this. One of the things Im interested in is how we view Howie...

One, free agency, won't begin until March 15th. The legal tampering period is March 13th. Obviously, this is a negotiation ploy by CJ. But the alarming thing to me is the response of sound the alarms. After Howie built a Super Bowl team. He redid a team that won the Super Bowl and got back to the Super Bowl 5 years later. I mean, I think we have to show some latitude. The guy knows what he is doing.

I am not saying you have to carry water for him... But there has to be some perspective. One of the things we know is last year Howie was patient. All of his moves were really good and were marked with patience. Bradberry. The deal that got CJ was really good. One of the things I know he likes to employ is the idea of patience. I love Gardner-Johnson, but there is a cost involved. As much as we love safety, it is not as important as D Tackle or Edge. I want him back... but you have to see what the market bears.

Does Howie get any kind of latitude? Because apparently not. Free agency hasn't even started, and the catcalls are already out after a Super Bowl run. I think we have to slow our roll a little bit. And I am not telling you that you have to accept every move he does. But I think he has earned the right where you at least wait and see after the finished product. Not a week and a half before the start of free agency."

Jeff McLane On What Free Agents Will Be Back For The Eagles

Last season the Eagles had one of the best rosters in recent history. Not just for the Eagles, but for the entire NFL. It is why they went on such a dominant run to the Super Bowl. They were top 5 on both sides of the ball. Their offense was near unstoppable, and their defense put up historic sack numbers. Despite not blitzing at a high rate. Sadly, that did not equate to a Super Bowl. the defense came up short in the Super Bowl vs the Chiefs. They couldn't even get a single stop in the second half. And now they enter the offseason with a ton of important free agents. Putting them in a tough position if they want to carry over this season's success.

The Eagles have a ton of players entering free agency. Most of them are on the defensive side of the ball. Names like Javon Hargrave, Brandon Graham, CJ Gardner-Johnson, Fletcher Cox, TJ Edwards, Kyzir White, Marcus Epps, and James Bradberry. Just to name a few. The Eagles defense was so good because they made some smart 1-year prove-it signings with guys to bolster the roster. The upside is it let them create a stacked team. But we are living the downside right now. Because after great seasons, those guys are all free agents. And it could mean the defense looks very different next year.

And to discuss which of those free agents could return, and which may be wearing another jersey soon, Jeff McLane from the Philly Inquirer joined The Anthony Gargano Show. He broke down the Eagles' chances to resign some of those guys, as well as discussing which guys are pretty much already out the door. Anthony asked him player by player to see what McLane's thoughts were on each name.

Here is what Jeff McLane had to say.
