Aaron Ladd Breaks Down the Game From the Chiefs Side
We get to watch Eagles games all season. So we know how good they are. But we don’t get to watch the Chiefs as much, so it can be tougher for Philly fans to be as invested in the strengths and weaknesses of the Eagles’ Super Bowl opponent. That is why The Best Show Ever talked to Aaron Ladd, who covers the Chiefs for KSHV 41, Kansas City’s NBC Affiliate. He gave us some insight into this upcoming super Bowl from the Chiefs’ side. here is some of what Aaron Ladd had to say.
On the Battle of the Chiefs O-Line vs the Eagles D-Line
“There is definitely some past trauma from the last time they were in the Super Bowl, as far as the offensive line is concerned. Patrick Mahomes running around for his life in Tampa. Since then a completely new unit. Creed Humphrey and Tre Smith coming through the draft. Joe Thuney coming in from New England to bring in some of that winning culture. Orlandi Brown. And then Andrew Wiley is the lone returner from that game. It’s going to be decided in the trenches… I think whoever wins that battle wins the game.”
On the Chiefs Young Secondary
“They don’t like to be called rookies. They’re playing into week 23 of the NFL Season. The only way to get the experience is to have the experience. They are going to have to step up in a big moment. And they did exactly that last game in the AFC Championship game. No 1 corner for Kansas City Sneed goes down. At that point, you have 4 rookies on the field vs one of the best WR groups in the league… Its going to be a stiff challenge this week too.. but it will just have to be trial by fire.”
On the Importance of Chris Jones Getting to Jalen Hurts for Them
“He is going to have to be the difference-maker for Kansas City. That is what made Joe Burrow so uncomfortable. He had 6 dropbacks in his 8 plays and was sacked 3 times… He doesn’t have to have sacks to impact the plays for Kansas City. Whether it is pressure, or moving Jalen Hurts off his spot… if I had to circle a unit for Kansas City’s defense it is the D-Line. They are going to have to get pressure on Jalen Hurts and make him uncomfortable.”
