EJ Smith Previews The Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl
The Super Bowl is getting closer and closer. Eagles-Chiefs is set to kick off at 6:30 pm on Sunday night. And to get some insight into that game, The Best Show Ever talked to EJ Smith from the Philly Inquirer. Who has the better roster? What matchups favor the Eagles? Ej Smith discussed that and more, as he previewed the Eagles-Chiefs game. Here is what EJ had to say.
On which team has the coaching advantage
“You have to give it to Andy Reid. I think that he is one of, if not the best coach in the history of the league. To see what Andy Reid is doing right now… you are seeing Andy get those results that he didn’t get earlier in his career. As far as offensive coaches go, he is right up there at the top. It is not a slight to Nick Sirianni or Shane Steichen. They are good coaches too. What they have done with Jalen Hurts and this offense this year has been remarkable… But the Chiefs do have the advantage at Qb and Head Coach.
Now if you want to put game management in there, now we can start to have a conversation about who you would rather have. But as far as offensive playcalling, it is really hard to beat Andy Reid. He has been this good for this long for a reason.”
On which team has the better roster
“I think it’s the Eagles. If they have proven anything this season, it is that they are the most complete team in the NFL this year. This is the best roster that I have covered. I know there is a lot of talk about the 2017 team vs this team. This year’s team has the edge in talent. If you look across the board they have matchup advantages at multiple spots. If you look at the players on the Chiefs who are real difference-makers… the Eagles have the talent to combat those players.
They have CJ Gardner-Johnson who I think could handle Travis Kelce in some situations. They’ve got the interior offensive line to handle Chris Jones. And they have the secondary and the pass rush to deal with Patrick Mahomes. Look, Mahomes is the great equalizer. He is the epitome of you can’t hope to stop him, you can only hope to contain him.
So I think the Eagles do have the talent advantage, a pretty distinct one. If you are rooting for the Eagles, that is what you feel good about. You have got matchup advantages at multiple spots.”
