Tim McManus Mid-Week Report- Super Bowl Bye Week
As he does every week during the Eagles season, Tim McManus joined The Best Show ever for his Eagle’s Mid-Week Report. It is the bye week for the Super Bowl. What did he think of their performance vs the 49ers? What made the difference in them starting to beat up the Niners defense on the ground? Here is Tim McManus’s Mid-Week report during the bye week.
On His Thoughts of the Performance vs the 49ers
“Domination. And unexpected domination. Because San Francisco was coming in on a heater. They had won 12 straight. Were playing lights out defensively. And even though it was Brock Purdy under center, they showed they were able to keep it up and humming. Then the come into the Linc and get throttled. So it was an impressive showing no doubt. Haason Reddick was the star of the show. What he has done is just incredible… He just went in there and he wrecked that game. 2 sacks, 3 Qb pressures, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble. That was just in the first half.
The offensive and defensive line continue to be the story of this team. They are able to assert their dominance against just about anybody. And we saw that even against one of the best defenses in the Niners. About as impressive of a win as I have seen from this group.”
On the difference Jeff Stoutland made in the game vs the Niners
“Surveying the locker room after the game, a lot of it comes down to Jeff Stoutland. Who we all know is one of the best offensive line coaches in the game. Talking with Jordan Mailata, he likened it to a game of chess… For a while the Niners got a bead on what the Eagles were doing. But Stoutland was able to make the proper adjustments. The way that Mailata put it, once they won that game of chess, once Stoutland figured out what was happening, that is when they took over. And you see the results.
4 TDs on the ground. They are setting record with their ground production this year… Obviously they are a roster that is loaded with talent. But they also have really good coaches. And that was on display this weekend.”
