Jalen Hurts is only on season two as the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s already taking them to a Super Bowl. Now, Hurts is reflecting on the backlash he got when the Eagles drafted him in 2020.

In an interview with ESPN’s Tim McManus, Hurts said there were people who “probably didn’t even want” him to be drafted because the Eagles had Carson Wentz.

“It was a big surprise to many,” he said. “My favorite [Bible] verse, I went through a lot of stuff in college and it kind of stuck with me, John 13:7: ‘You may not know now but later you’ll understand.’ Hopefully people understand.” My, how things have changed. Hurts definitely understands now, and so does everyone else.
