NEW ORLEANS - JANUARY 13: Sheldon Brown #24 of the Philadelphia Eagles breaks up a pass intended for Reggie Bush #25 of the New Orleans Saints during the NFC divisional playoff game at the Superdome on January 13, 2007 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

See what Andrew Salciunas found in The Audio Vault today! They continued their journey through past playoff runs. Today, it was the 2006 run, which was the Jeff Garcia year where McNabb tore his ACL in a week 11 loss to the Titans. But Garcia came in and helped carry the Eagles to the playoffs by going 5-1 over the last 6 games to win the NFC East. That playoff won started with a Wild Card matchup vs the Giants. Here is the lineup from today’s Vault.

Eagles topple the Giants in 2006 Wild Card Round

By this point, Jeff Garcia has a Philly folk hero. And that continued into the Wild Card round. Garcia and the Eagles beat the Giants in a narrow 23-20 game. Westbrook got the Eagles’ scoring started with a 49-yard TD run that tied the game 7-7. Garcia would later hit Stallworth on a 28-yard pass to make it 17-10. They would later make it a 20-10 lead. But then Eli Manning and the Giants came back, and it was tied 20-20 with 4 minutes to go. But the Eagles came back out onto the field, drove down the field, ran the entire clock down, and David Akers kicked the game-winning FG to send the Eagles to the next round. Andrew grabbed the into to the game, the TDs by Westbrook and Stallworth, and Akers game-winning FG out of the Audio Vault for us today.

Saints End the Eagles 2006 Playoff Run

The Jeff Garcia story did not end in glory though. The Eagles 6 game winning streak came to an end with a 27-24 Eagles victory. One of the things the game is now known for was the crushing hit by Sheldon Brown on Reggie Bush. And the Eagles also had two long TD in the game. In the second quarter, Garcia hit Stallworth for a 75-yard TD to make it 7-6, and later in the 3rd quarter, Westbrook broke free for a 62-yard TD run that made it 21-13. But they could not hold the lead, and the miracle run was ended. And Andrew grabbed the two long TDs, the Sheldon Brown hit, and the Dick Stockton intro to the game for the Audio Vault today.
