Our attitude is weird right now

I’ve heard every stupid boogie man scenario thrown out there this week as we prepare for the Eagles and Giants in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game. Let me give you a rundown and my rebuttal.

What if the Eagles play like they did vs the Commanders in the first loss of the season?

Ok, I’ll play along. What if they play like they did in the ONLY loss of the season when Jalen Hurts started a game? Considering that they went 14-1 in his starts, why would any logical fan be focusing on the one loss instead of the 14 wins? For many in my industry it’s called a “hot take” contrarian opinion or struggling to create interesting content. Instead of wondering could the Eagles play like they did in one loss, instead of focusing on their 14 wins with Hurts, what if the Giants play like they did in their 7 losses?

Did you see what the Giants did against the Vikings? Wow!

Yes, I saw the Giants in a one score game almost all day Sunday at Minnesota. Is that supposed to impress me? Let’s be logical here. The Vikings had one of the least impressive defenses of the winning teams in football. They already have fired their defensive coordinator because of it. You know who looked BETTER than the Giants did against the Vikings just in the past few months? The Cowboys, the Lions and the Packers. Those 3 teams blew the Vikings out. Let’s stop creating a storyline based on someone beating up on a weak sister team.

The Giants are coming in red hot!

The Giants started out 6-1 and were the most talked about story in the NFL. They proceeded to finish out the regular season 3-6-1. They have 3 wins in the last 2 calendar months. Spin it any way you like it if it helps you sleep at night, but the Giants are NOT red hot. The Eagles started 8-0 and finished 6-3. That is what being hot means. I don’t know where this hot narrative is coming from, but again I will blame laziness.

The top seeded teams lost both Divisional Playoff Games last year!

Yes, the Packers and the Titans were the first top seeds in the only one bye team era and they lost. They lost to the 49ers and the Bengals. The 49ers lost the NFC Title Game the next week but they had been to the Super Bowl just a couple of years earlier vs the Bucs. They had playoff pedigree. They were in the Final 4 teams twice in the past 3 seasons. That is NOT the Giants. They won their first playoff game last weekend in 3,000+ days. Pedigree and the recent Giants don’t belong in the same sentence.

FINAL SUMMARY

I guarantee you that the same people that this week are creating the nightmare scenarios of how the Giants are very dangerous will be the ones who pivot to trying to scare you about the Cowboys and 49ers next week. It’s what they do. Any picking of the Giants this week is clearly not based in facts, so it’s based in “look at me”.

Enjoy the game everybody! Join us for pregame on Saturday at 5pm.
