Jeff McLane Previews the Eagles Matchup with the Giants
The Eagles will face off with the Giants this Saturday. And to preview that playoff matchup, Jeff McLane from the Philly Inquirer joined The Anthony Gargano show. Jeff and Anthony discussed the ideal game plan for the Eagles to beat the Giants.
On the Eagles’ Defense vs the Giants’ Offense
“The Eagles’ defense, and that defensive front, have shown they can get home. And they can get home against this Giants offensive line. Which is fine, better than it normally has been. It is still not a strength. That is where I think the scales will tip in favor of the Eagles. Does Jonathan (Gannon) need to switch things up? We will see. In that first game, they were able to take the run game away. But Saquon was a game-time decision that game. He did play, but he clearly was not the guy we are used to seeing… Now he looks like the Saqoun of old.
And with Saquon not being much of a threat they couldn’t get that zone read going with Daniel Jones. That was effective vs the Vikings. So the Eagles are going to have to be prepared for that. They see it every week with Jalen Hurts. So they know how to stop that…
His Thoughts of The Matchup Overall
“Ultimately the two matchups where the Eagles have the decided advantage are the Eagles’ D Line vs the Giants’ O Line and the Eagles’ skill players vs the Defensive Backs of the Giants. Andrew Thomas is good at the LT spot, but the other guys are either average or below average. And the Eagles have such great depth there. They are going to have Josh Sweat back. They can just throw competent pass rushers in waves at you. And your best pass rusher Hasson Reddick can beat Andrew Thomas… I’m predicting the Eagles win. I don’t know if I will pick that they cover.”
