Adam Schefter Joined Anthony To Discuss The Damar Hamlin Situation
Last night was one of the scariest moments in sports history. Bills Safety Damar Hamlin went down on the field, reportedly going into cardiac arrest. Paramedics had to perform life-saving measures such as CPR when he was not breathing on his own. Thankfully his life was saved in the moment, but he was then taken to the hospital. After a long wait, the NFL finally decided to postpone the game. But in the meantime that left everyone in Limbo having to react to what they just witnessed despite a lack of information. And part of the crew having to deal with that was Adam Schefter. And to discuss what happened, he joined Anthony Gargano earlier today.
What went through his mind as part of the crew on ESPN trying to react to the situation despite not knowing what was happening with Hamlin? He and Anthony discussed what happened. And here is some of what Adam Schefter had to say.
“The most important thing, the only thing that really matters, is Damar Hamlin right now. Everybody who watched that last night felt horrible and sickened. It was just brutal to watch. You just hope that he is okay. I don’t know what to say. You never imagine a scenario like that. You hope there is never anything like it again. When we first came on you are talking. You know how dire it is. Initially, we said we haven’t seen anything like this… The thing about last night was it is 2023. The day and age of social media. In prime time. Everybody was watching… The stage it was on made it feel different to me. This one just hit differently.
And we live things today, for better or worse, in real-time. We all want everything right away. We want to know what is happening with Hamlin right away. And we don’t know… We are just waiting for an update and you want to get good news. And there were no answers.”
