Dave Zangaro Previews Eagles vs Saints
The Eagles play the Saints on Sunday with a chance to wrap up the one seed in the NFC. But perhaps more importantly they are dealing with injuries to several key players. And to get an update on those injuries, and a preview for Sunday’s game vs the Saints, “The Best Show Ever?” talked to Dave Zangaro. What is the latest on Jalen Hurts? When can CJ Gardner-Johnson return? Can Lane Johnson really play through his torn abdomen? Dave discussed all of that and more. Here is some of what Dave Zangaro had to say.
On Jalen Hurts Shoulder Injury…
“When it comes to an injury like this, I think the fear of him injuring it worse is the guiding factor. As far as next week that’s in play if they can’t pull it out this week. Then there is a ton of pressure on that week 18 game to try and win one and get home-field advantage. He’s trending the right way. That was the big takeaway from seeing him at practice. I thought it was a long shot that he would play this week anyway. But seeing him out there, seeing him progress, and seeing him look good throwing the football. It makes you feel that if they need him next week he will be available.
More importantly, once they get to the playoffs he will be good to go. Because I still think they can win on Sunday with Garnder Minshew and lock up that number 1 seed. And then you are really jus trying to stay healthy until you get to the divisional round games.”
On the Eagles Matchup vs the Saints Defense…
“Last year the Saints were so good at stopping the run. And then they played the Eagles and they ran all over them. Of course in that game, they had Hurts and Lane Johnson. And they won’t have either in this one. I think it will be a balanced offense in this game. There are a few areas that trouble you a little bit. One of them is Cam Jordan coming off the edge and going against Jack Driscoll. They might have to help him out here and there… They have been really good against the Tight Ends… But just about every game they go into the Eagles are going to feel like they have an advantage with their receivers against the other team’s cornerbacks… So I still feel like that is a pretty big advantage.”
