Dave Zangaro Previews Eagles vs Cowboys
The Eagles will be facing their rival Cowboys this week without starting QB Jalen Hurts. He sprained his shoulder in last week’s game vs the Bears. And while the Eagles pretended he might be able to play, we learned that was not in the cards. So what can we expect in this game with Minshew in for Hurts? Do the Eagles still stand a chance vs the Cowboys? “The Best Show Ever?” talked to Dave Zangaro from NBC Sports Philly to get the scoop on this game.
Was he still optimistic about their chances in their game? What type of game plan will they go with having Minshew at QB? Here is some of what Dave Zangaro had to say.
On The Eagles Approach to This Game Without Hurts and With The Results Not Meaning as Much…
“They are approaching it in the same way they have approached every game this year. It’s really been one of the most impressive things about this team. They’re focused week in and week out. They are actually doing the things most teams talk about. Every team says they have to focus each week, and they have to take it one game at a time. You won’t find a team that says anything different. But the Eagles have actually done it this year.
It comes down to leadership, with the head coach and the Qb. Obviously, the QB isn’t playing this week. But they have a pretty good backup. One of the best backups in the league. And it could be a good game. I think they can stick tough with Dallas, and have a chance to win it.”
On the Eagles vs Cowboys Rosters
“Just look at their roster. Jalen is one of 8 pro bowlers on this roster, and they could have more. It’s just a more talented roster. That is not to say Dallas doesn’t have good players. They certainly do. Dallas has some stars in their own right. But they have also been hit by injuries harder than the Eagles. Look at their CB position, they have lost two starters for a year. Their line has been a little banged up. And they are going to be without their starting middle linebacker in this game.”
On What To Expect from Gardner Minshew
“Yea they are going to miss Jalen Hurts, no doubt. But Gardner Minshew is a solid player in this league. The thing you like about Minshew is he is not going to try to do too much. He has 41 TDS and 12 interceptions in his career. He takes care of the football and he can run the offense efficiently. They have enough weapons outside of him to make it work. He has a good offensive line. They still have AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. They’re getting Dallas Goedert back. He just has to not make mistakes, run the offense efficiently, and the Eagles have a shot to win this.”
