Sixers To Host The NBA Champs Without Curry
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - DECEMBER 11: Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors guards Tobias Harris #12 of the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center on December 11, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will host the reigning NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. It was supposed to be a marquee matchup. Unfortunately, the game just lost a little luster. ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that Warriors superstar Steph Curry will miss “a few weeks” with a left shoulder injury. He suffered the injury in the team’s loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
Curry leads the Warriors in scoring at 30 points a night, tying him for 5th in the NBA with Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets – the Sixers Joel Embiid leads the league with 33.3 points per game. The two-time MVP also hands out 6.8 assists through 26 games played. Golden State is currently on a two-game losing streak. They suffered back-to-back losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and Pacers in the midst of a six-game road trip. The Warriors have also been without All-Star Andrew Wiggins for the last five games as he deals with a strained adductor. He will miss the game against the 76ers.
Golden State is 14-15 on the season and a league worse 2-13 on the road. This all lines up perfectly for Philadelphia. They are back at home to host the Warriors sporting a 15-12 record and are 10-5 at The Center. Four more games remain during this season-long seven-game home stand. They catch a bit of a break with Golden State’s best player now out of the lineup. The Warriors now look to replace his 30 points and all that he brings to the table. Its now up to the Sixers to not let their guard down with Curry out. They will look to continue to play at the very high level that they’ve displayed on the floor leading to this latest winning streak.
