No One Should Want Joel Embiid Traded
Joel Embiid is one of the top stars in the city. Pardon me – one of the top superstars in the city. Yes, he’s that level of player in his sport. And no one should want to trade him in the prime of his career. Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers franchise player, spoke with Yahoo!’s Jake Fischer in a wide-ranging story. He expressed that he believes the Sixers fan base wants the organization to do with him going forward.
“I don’t know,” Embiid said shrugging. “Sixers fans, they want to trade me.”
This is what he said in his conversation with Fischer with his wide smile. Indicating a possible trolling job that the five-time All-Star is well known for.
There’s no way of knowing if the big guy truly believes Sixers fans want him gone. But one thing is very clear, many fans want him here and feel he is the one that will get the Sixers back to NBA Finals. After all, he’s the face of the rebuild that so many were on board for. However, there is absolutely a group of longtime 76ers fans that have seen enough with the Embiid teams and don’t think he will get them back there after four failed chances during the playoffs, all ending in second-round exits.
This current Philadelphia roster was built to win now. And despite their tough start to the season, there’s plenty of time for them to get things together and find themselves back in one of the top seeds of the Eastern Conference. With starting guard Tyrese Maxey possibly returning soon from his foot injury and James Harden already back with three games under his belt – we now get to see what the starting lineup looks like going forward after playing just six games together so far. If they move up in the standings as a result and finally advance to the Finals, no one will want Embiid traded. The fans will make sure he knows that.
