Eagles Sign Former Pro Bowl Punter Brett Kern
The Eagles’ blowout win over the Giants Sunday did not come without its drawbacks. Namely the loss of their punter Arryn Siposs. Late in the 2nd quarter while backed up in their own end zone, Arryn Siposs had one of his punts blocked. Instead of letting the Giants fall on it for a TD, Siposs tried to do something productive. He scooped up the loose ball and tried to run it for a first down. Unfortunately, he stepped out of bounds, And even more unfortunately he took a hit afterward and had to leave the game. He is now out indefinitely with what is being called a lower leg injury. But the Eagles already have his replacement. They signed former Pro Bowl Punter Brett Kern.
Eagles are signing former Titans’ Pro-Bowl punter Brett Kern to replace punter and holder Arryn Siposs, who is out indefinitely after getting hurt Sunday, per league source.

Brett Kern has been punting in the NFL since 2004. After being Toldeo’s Punter for multiple years, he entered the NFL, starting his career with the Broncos. He spent only a year and a half in Denver before they waived him. He signed with the Titans shortly after that and spent the next 13 seasons with them. In that time he averaged 45.9 yards per punt, made three Pro Bowls, and led the league in yards per punt once. He was also first 1st team All-Pro one season and 2nd team All-Pro in another season.
The 36-year-old Brett Kern spent the last two seasons battling injuries, and multiple stints on the Covid list. His average yards per punt fell under 46.0 for the first time in years. Eventually, the Titans replaced him with undrafted rookie Ryan Stonehouse. And he had been a free agent until the Eagles scooped him up today.
It is still unclear how long Arryn Siposs will be out, or even the full extent of his injury. But clearly, it will be bad enough to keep him out of Sunday’s game. Until then, Brett Kern will fill in for him. Siposs had not exactly played great this season. He was 25th in the NFL with average yards per punt of 45.6. And in 44 chances he had only pinned the other team behind the 20 16 times. But that also has more to do with the Eagles’ punt coverage team not playing great either.
