After crushing the Titans last year, they steamrolled the Giants in this one. They scored the first 3 touchdowns of the game, and never looked back after that. They are making everything look easy right now. Another big day by both Miles Sanders and Jalen Hurts carried them to an easy 48-22 victory.
Two weeks ago they ran all over the Packers. Last week they threw all over the Titans. And this week they did both. 200 yards both through the air and on the ground. They had their way early throwing the ball, and then ran it down their throats the rest of the game, eventually racking up 4 rushing Touchdowns to go with their 2 passing touchdowns. It is a cliche, but this team really can beat you in so many different ways. You would be hard-pressed to find a flaw in this offense. They run it at an elite level. And when asked to, they can also throw it at an elite level. Even with one of their best weapons, Dallas Goedert, out, they still made it look easy versus this aggressive Giants defense. And Goedert is due back next week.
And don't forget the defense, who held the Giants under 200 passing yards. They stuffed Saquon Barkley the same way they did Derrick Henry the week before. Barkley failed to even reach 30 yards. The Eagles' biggest weakness is suddenly looking like a strength with Jordan Davis back in the fold. Losing another Safety, Reed Blankenship, leaves another hole in the middle of their defense, but having Avonte Maddox makes up for some of that. And they continue to haunt opposing Qb's nightmares. Another 7 sacks for them today, including 3 by Brandon Graham. Dont let the 22 points fool you, They shut the Giants down. 1 TD came after a blocked punt gave the Giants a very short field. Another came at the end of the game with the backups in.
It was also a day of many milestones for the Birds. Sanders ran for 144 yards, and two touchdowns, becoming the first Eagles RB to reach 1000 yards since LeSean McCoy. AJ Brown had 70 yards and a TD to become the first 1000-yard WR since Jeremy Maclin. And those two, plus Jalen Hurts each got their 10th TD of the season, marking the first time the Eagles have ever had 3 10 TD scorers in a single season. Not to mention that Jalen Hurts became the first QB in NFL history to rush for 10 TDs in consecutive seasons.
It was nearly a perfect day for the Eagles. The Cowboys trailed the Texans until the last minute of the game. But they ended up pulling out the win. But they still benefited from a Vikings loss, and are one step closer to wrapping up the 1 seed in the NFC. Their magic number vs the Vikings is down to 2, and 3 vs the Cowboys. They next play Justin Fields and the Bears, who are coming off their bye week. Win that one, and they will have a chance to clinch the top seed in the NFC with a win on Christmas Eve over the Cowboys.
