And to get some insight into those moves, Anthony Gargano talked to the Skipper Charlie Manuel. What did Charlie think of the moves? Why does he love Trea Turner so much? Here is some of what Charlie Manuel had to say.
On Why Trea Turner is One Of His Favorite Modern Players
"Trea Turner, if you want to talk about swings, you could put him anywhere from 1 to 5 in swings in the Major Leagues... He's nice and neat. Has great balance in his bottom half. And he is very relaxed in his upper body with his hands. Has a smooth quick pop to ball. Has good plate coverage. Works the count. He's got power. His strength as a hitter is from middle in. But if you get the ball up and out away from him a little bit, he has the juice to hit it the other way too... He swings, he does not push the ball. His two strike swing he lets the ball get a little deep on him. But he still swings. He just stays compoact on it.. And even if the ball gets a little close to him, he can still snatch it."
On Trea Turner Being a Consistent Player
"He definitly gives the top of the order more balance and consistency. Without a doubt. The consistency part is maybe the most important thing about it. He doesn't neccesarily hit big slumps because of his talent, his running speed, and the way he handles the bat. he is very consistent. And he will definitly go well with Harper. Those are two guys who will put the ball in play, and can make things happen for us."
