Every day he dives deep into the Vault to find audio relevant to the day, like things that happened today in history. Movie debuts, major sporting events, and more. Today they recognized the debut of Beverley Hills Cop, the start of the Covid Pandemic, and more. Here is the lineup from today's Audio Vault.
Beverley Hills Cop Releases In Theaters
On this day in 1984, the original Beverley Hills Cop was released in theaters. It is one of Eddie Murphy's more iconic roles, where he played a Detroit Cop who travels to Beverley Hills to solve the murder of his friend. And Andrew went into the vault to grab a well-known scene from the film, where Jonathan Bank's character tells Eddie Murphy's character "Don't even try it cuz," which is an often used sound drop on the Anthony Gargano show. Andrew grabbed it thinking Anthony loved the movie. And while Anthony was able to quote the entire scene, he refused to admit he loves the movie.
First Covid Death Reported
On this day in 2020, the first Covid death was reported out of China. The epidemic obviously went on to rock the entire world. A few months later it shut down our country. And Andrew pulled a media report on that first death, from before we knew how serious it would get.
First Playboy Magazine Published
On this day in 1953, the first issue of Playboy Magazine was published, featuring Marilyn Monroe on the cover. And Andrew played two different ads for the Magazine from different decades to show how the magazine changed over the years and dropped the facade of being a serious magazine.
Happy Xmas (War is Over) Debuts
On this day in 1971, John Lennon's iconic single Happy Xmas (War is Over) debuted. So Andrew played a little snippet of it for us today.
