Jeff McLane Discusses The Eagles Close Win Over The Colts
The Eagles beat the Colts, even if it was a little ugly. And to talk about that ugly win, Jeff McLane from the Philly Inquirer joined The Anthony Gargano Show. Here is some of what Jeff McLane had to say.
On If There is Something to Be Said For Winning Even When You Dont Play Well
“Look back at teams that have won Superbowls, they have had wins like these. In 2004 they needed OT to beat a really bad Browns team. In 2017 you needed a 63-yard Fg from jake Elliott to beat a 3-win Giants team. This happens over the course of a season. You aren’t going to have your best stuff week in and week out. And certainly, the Eagles didn’t have their best stuff against the Colts. That being said there are areas you need to be concerned about. Was the game called well by Shane Stechien and Nick Sirianni? I would say no. But they still found a way.”
On Impact From New Additions Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh
“Credit to Howie. I thought the Linval Joseph signing made perfect sense. When asked to do what they want him to do here, which is to clog the middle and eat up blockers, he can still do that. and do that well. He is not only a big guy, but he is a smart guy. He made perfect sense. The Suh one I was like are we going over the top here?… He played 17 snaps and he was definitely getting after it. I was a little bit concerned of he would be in shape. But he played and he contributed. So credit to Howie. He is going for broke here. This is a team clearly they feel can do something.”
