For the first time in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles are 8-0 as they remain undefeated after defeating the Houston Texans, 29-17, in a hard-fought game on Thursday night in Houston.

While most Philadelphia sports fans dedicated most of their attention to the World Series in South Philly with the hometown Phillies hosting the Houston Astros in game 5 of the Fall Classic, one eye was kept on the Eagles and what they were doing on the road against the lowly Texans – now 1-6-1. The Birds were good, not great... but did just enough to walk away with their second win in five days. Quarterback Jalen Hurts returned home and continued his strong play by throwing two touchdowns in the win. The Houston native completed 21 of 27 passes for 243 yards through the air – he also ran the ball nine times for 23 yards, including a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. His only mistake on the night was a lost fumble. A rare turnover for the second-year starter.

Running back Miles Sanders continued his solid play, racking up 93 yards on 17 carries plus a touchdown... his sixth of the season. The Texans came into the game as the worst rush defense in the NFL. Last week against the Titans, Houston allowed Derrick Henry to rush for 219 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carriers. Philadelphia clearly saw an opportunity to use their ground game as part of the game plan. Wide receiver A.J. Brown and tight end Dallas Goedert got the other two scores on the night on passes from MVP candidate Hurts.

On the defensive side of the ball, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson came away with his league-leading fifth interception of the season. The Eagles' offense couldn’t get into a rhythm and needed a spark -- Gardner-Johnson did that as he got Hurts and company great field position and they did the rest as Sanders punched it in for the only points of the frame. Cornerback James Bradberry picked off Houston QB Davis Mills late in the final quarter for his second INT of the season. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave recorded three sacks on the night. The Birds now have a league-leading 15 takeaways on the campaign.

Philadelphia will take this mini bye week to recover and rest before they hitting the field against the Washington Commanders for a Monday night showdown on November 14th
