See what was Brewing with Jen Scordo today! Every day Jen shares 3 recent weird and interesting news stories. Today she covered one about an asteroid worth more than the entire World economy, a woman claiming she was detained at the airport for being too pretty, and a woman winning the lottery twice in one day. Here are her stories from today.
An Asteroid Worth More The The World Economy
There may be a very valuable asteroid floating out in space. How valuable? If projections are correct, it is worth more than the entire world economy. And significantly so. The current world economy is worth roughly $74 trillion. The asteroid is projected to have $10,000 quadrillion worth of iron, nickel, and gold. A literal gold mine. Enough to make every person on Earth a billionaire. And now NASA is launching a mission to explore it. The issue would be how to mine it, and how to bring it back to Earth.
Woman Wins The Lottery Twice in One Day
The chances of winning the lottery, even for a smaller amount, are already thin. But how about winning it twice in one day? That is exactly what happened to one Delaware woman. First, she won around $100k between two scratch-off tickets. After cashing them out, she bought some more scratchers to celebrate, she won another $200k. $300k total, within a day, from one person.
Detained for Being Too Pretty
Two Australian women recently detained at LAX Airport are claiming it is because they are too pretty. Evidently, security suspected them of being escorts or Strippers. They took to TikTok to share their story. The two claim they were detained for over 5 hours.
“I know for a fact that he thought she was a prostitute or an escort looking to work in the US because they love detaining Australian girls and accusing them of that until they tell the truth.”
They were eventually released an allowed into the country. But evidently, this has been an issue for various women trying to enter the country, and many commenters shared similar stories. LAX for their part denied that they ever detain people based on physical appearance or how someone is dressed, but would not comment on this individual incident.
