Al Michaels Angers Taylor Swift Fans
More than just Football fans were watching Thursday Night Football last night. In fact with the other sports going on, and the quality of Thursday Night games, Football fans may have been in the minority of people watching. Instead, there was an influx of Taylor Swift fans watching, with it being announced a preview of her new album would air during the game, as Jen discussed yesterday.
There are certain fanbases, that you have to treat like a wasps nest. Where they can be very protective of the celebrity they direct their adulation to. Taylor Swift is certainly one of those fanbases. And last night they set their sights on Al Michaels. At one point during the broadcast, Al made the comment that only teenage girls like Taylor Swift. Mistake. He may as well have taken a bat to a wasps nest. The reaction online was swift. Luckily for Al, he does not seem to have much of an online presence. But needless to say, Taylor Swift fans did not take well to the slight at their fan base.
To be fair, Al Michaels was certainly showing his age with the comments. Taylor Swift has been around for a while now, and even if she started with just teen fans, those teens are all much older now.
Faking a Smile May Make you Feel Better
No one wants to smile when they do not feel like smiling. But one new study suggests that is exactly what you should do. Scientists from Stanford did a study with over 3800 participants, asking some participants to smile, and some to hold a pen in their mouth. They also showed some cheerful images. The people asked to force a smile, reported feeling happier afterward at a higher rate. But that may have been because they didn't have to put a pen in their mouth. Granny Gets Final laugh From the Grave
Funerals are usually a sorrowful situation. But Jodie Perryman did not want her funeral to be that way. She passed away at the age of 81. But before dying, she prepared cards for all of the people attending her funeral. Inside the cards was a picture of her with her tongue out, flipping the double bird, and the words let's keep in touch and a tiny ouija board. Her granddaughter posted the final present from her grandmother online and said the letters were met with fits of laughter at her funeral.
