There are so many reasons to smile as your work week begins, knowing that your Eagles don’t have anything to work on. The bye week is here, injuries can mend and a mental break is available. The NFL schedule is in many ways a battle of attrition and this team has made navigating the early going a thing of beauty. How beautiful? Let me tell you.
According to Football Outsiders and their statistical analysis; the Eagles wake up today with an 87% likelihood to win the NFC East. The Cowboys? They drop to 10%. The Giants? A paltry 3% chance to win it. In other words, the divisional race is all but over. It’s cute that from last night through this morning in Dallas “Christmas Eve” is trending on social media. Let me deliver coal in the stocking of Cowboys fans. That Christmas Eve game is going to be vitally important…to you. The night Santa visits isn’t going to mean a thing to this Eagles club.
The Eagles chances to secure the top seed in the NFC? It stands at 78%! The next likely team? The Tampa Bay Bucs are sitting at 8%. Let it sink in for a minute. There is no such thing as “controlling your own destiny”, but this Eagles team can make a series of three foot putts to secure a friendly post season path.
If I had told you in August that the Bucs, Packers and 49ers (all who had better odds to win the Super Bowl before the season than the Eagles) all would have 3 losses before the Eagles lost their first you would have scoffed. Even in your worst case scenarios, can you identify 4 losses on the remains Eagles schedule? A split with the Giants? Maybe. A loss on Christmas Eve in Dallas? I might even say likely. 4 losses? Stop it!
Happiness reigns in the Delaware Valley! Soak it in and enjoy the week. We will be with you every step of the way!
