And the Sixers open their season vs the Celtics coming up. Anthony was in sports heaven today. And he talked about how it all starts today with Aaron Nola facing the Braves, in his Opening Diatribe this morning.
Here is how Anthony opened his show this morning...
4;37 today, Citizens Bank Park, we aim for the first pitch between Aaron Nola... and Strider?
Oh the Braves are playing some games here. Not too long ago they announced that Strider, the young prized right-hander, was slated to start, and not Morton. They go Strider today in game 3, and they push Morton to tomorrow's game 4. Again, He hasn't pitched this September 18th. It's probably a good move for them. But I don't know how long he is going to be able to go...
It makes the drama all that heightened. So it is going to be the first playoff game at Citizens Bank Park since 2011. The last playoff game here was of course 1 bloody nil. Game 5 when Chris Carpenter shut out the Phillies 1-0...
But it is 11 years later, and they are back in the playoffs. We have a home game. And this town is going to be incredible. It is going to be an amazing weekend. We have got playoff Baseball. A Red October against the Braves. It is Eagles-Cowboys Friday. Sunday Night Football, we are going to have the Birds play the Cowboys. And rout the Cowboys. I am going to say it all day, I love them by double digits on Sunday night. I feel it, I smell it, I sense it. Every part of my being loves the Eagles to win that game. I have matched it up 1000 times, and it has come out Eagles every time...
And last night, the Flyers, that's the sign! The Flyers win 5-2 over the hated Devils. Next week the Sixers start against the Celtics. We have Phillies-Braves, Flyers-Devils, Sixers- Celtics, and Eagles-Cowboys. Oh! It is heaven ladies and gentlemen. Heaven! And last night has to be the sign.
They absolutely have to win today. Nola has to pitch well. I feel like he is going to pitch well. he has been nothing but incandescent all season long. Now it is the NLDS, and we need him. We need a similar outing from Nola today to shut down the Braves and allow the bats to get a little loose.
